Schneider National agrees to settle with mechanics for $3.5 million.
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel (7/11, Romell, 221K) reports Schneider National Inc. settled for $3.5 million a class-action suit accusing them of shorting mechanics on “overtime pay and rest and meal breaks.” The deal must be approved by a Federal judge. According to a motion by the plaintiffs’ lawyers, the average payout to the some 200 current and former employees would be $9,000 to $10,000, with the rest going to litigation expenses, administrative costs, employer payroll taxes, and attorneys fees.
