LOS ANGELES — Role players of Middle Eastern ancestry who worked inside fabricated villages located at Fort Irwin National Training Center have accused three military contractors of violating numerous labor laws and forcing them to live in inadequate conditions.
The 18 role players filed a federal lawsuit last Monday claiming they were worked around the clock in imitation Iraqi and Afghani villages. The suit claims the contractors required the actors to stay on base 24 hours a day for up to 19 consecutive days. The suit also says the actors had to stay in character at all times in “villages” without running water or electricity.
