The Department of Labor recently change the rule on if you should be paid overtime or paid a salary. Previously if you made more than $23,000 a year and were a manager, decision maker, or profession you were exempt from overtime. Now the minimum is $47,476 a year. The minimum will be adjusted every 3 years so basically 40% of wage earners will always be eligible for overtime. The new rule takes effect December 16, 2016.
