Ashley Furniture was sued for allegedly mis-classifying employees

This lawsuit is called Suliaman v. Ashley Furniture Industries, Inc.. It was filed in US District Court in Las Vegas on November 5, 2014. The suit alleges that sales associates were mis-classified as exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act FLSA’s and not paid overtime. Sales associates who are not paid commission or less than 20% of their check is commission are not exempt from the FLSA’s overtime requirement. It will be interesting to see how this one comes out.
